The Formation, Work and DNA of Zion Fellowship, Perth

It was a Sunday like any other, Nov 2, 2003 – the day Zion Fellowship, Perth had her inaugural service in the home of Pastor Philip and Irene Chia.

There was a modest gathering of only a handful of people made up of Pastor Philip and his family of four; Bro Ronnie Chan and his wife Sandy Chan; In total there were 24 of people to be exact, we praised God for bringing them. Not too bad for a start..

.

Simplicity was the theme of the day. We had just a piano to work with, and a real inexperienced worship leader. I thank God He had no problems with that! The key to His presence is truly a simplicity and brokenness of heart, that which He would never despise. I believe God did something in the hearts of those who were gathered.

Pastor Philip shared passionately about the importance and the ingredients of an authentic vision and how we should personalise it into our daily lives. Being a part of Zion Fellowship International (under the covering of Dr. Brian Bailey), he also shared on the vision of  Zion, and how our Christian walk is likened to the journey of Israel. It was an individual and corporate call to a higher place – an ongoing and progressive vision towards God’s highest purposes.

God birthed Zion into the hearts of many who desired to fulfill the calling of Zion’s vision in their lives. The message then concluded with a salvation call. One lady, the only unbeliever in the congregation, responded. It was a touching moment for many and tears of joy flowed freely. It was Zion Fellowship’s first-fruit harvest unto the Lord. Needless to say, it stirred our hearts and built faith to believe God for greater things in the days ahead! Ephesians 3:20-21
